Lumeo was Tarik’s spirit animal. He was playful but could also be serious when necessary. He gave Tarik the power to dive, twist and leap in the air gracefully, as well as the abilities of an otter and minor water control. He had a strong bond with Tarik’s sister, LaReimaja, as well.

He accompanies Tarik, Conor, Rollan, Meilin, and Abeke on their journey to retrieve the talismans of the Great Beasts in the first series. In Rise and Fall, after Tarik was killed by General Gar and Gerathon, Lumeo avenges his partner by killing General Gar and his spirit animal Renneg—however, he dies in the process.

Overview[]

He was seen to be cheeky, playful, mischievous, and clever. He gives Tarik the reflexes of the otter. Lumeo also gives Tarik minor water powers, as seen in Fire and Ice.

In Wild Born, it is jokingly stated by Tarik that “Lumeo is more clown than beast.” Lumeo cares about Tarik a lot. Whenever Tarik gets hurt, Lumeo always comes to his aid.

In the Books[]

Wild Born[]

Lumeo’s tattoo is first seen when Conor notices it on Tarik’s arm. Later, Tarik calls him up for a demonstration on how to use your spirit animal’s powers to your advantage. He is next mentioned when talking about who would take up the Ravens’ freedom challenge. He is later seen attacking a mongoose spirit animal.

Hunted[]

When the group is ambushed by Conquerors on their way to get the Iron Boar talisman from Rumfuss the Boar, Tarik summons Lumeo to protect them. Lumeo is seen pouncing on a cat amid fighting.

When Tarik is injured, Lumeo is seen suddenly serious, wondering what he can do to help him.

Conor and Rollan each took one of Tarik’s arms and hauled him up. Lumeo stood by his side, his coat uneven and sodden from the fight in the damp underbrush. His normally playful expression was keen, trying to anticipate what Tarik might need from him. “It’s all right, old friend,” Tarik said to his spirit animal. “Don’t worry.”

Blood Ties[]

Lumeo is first shown mimicking Tarik’s facial expressions. Lumeo’s tattoo was later hidden by Tarik, as it was dangerous for him to be out in Xin Kao Dai.

When the Tergesh struck, he helped Tarik defeat one of them. He threw Lumeo into the air and catches him. Lumeo lends Tarik the ability to run faster “than any normal man”.

Fire and Ice[]

Lumeo gives Tarik minor water abilities to drive an unknown water animal away. Later, Lumeo climbs on Rollan and scares him.

Against the Tide[]

After they get on land, Lumeo plays with Briggan. Lumeo curls up around Tarik’s shoulders when they go to meet with Tangaroa. His bond with Tarik on Nightshade Island became distant so, he was in passive state while Tarik was there. When they get back from the Island and use the conches, only four of them can go to see Mulop. Lumeo is worried and advises against them going. Rollan gets back to Tarik and Lumeo. Both are anxious and Tarik begins to rub his back.

Rise and Fall[]

When Tarik is killed, Lumeo avenges him by attacking Gar. In the end, he manages to kill Gar and his spirit animal, Renneg, a wolverine. Lumeo dies in the process and is buried alongside Tarik by Irtike and Mikak.

Trivia[]
