The Battle for the Crystal Polar Bear was an ambush on the Greencloaks that took place on a dock in northern Eura in Fire and Ice.

After finishing their quest for the Crystal Polar Bear, Conor, Abeke, Meilin, Rollan, Tarik, and Maya departed Arctica for good to find the docks in Eura strangely empty. Getting on the nerves of the captain that had brought them there, Tarik had the team vote whether to stay or return. Tarik decided that they should stay. But then Meilin noticed archers lining the rooftops.

The Conquerors soon showed themselves: Shane, Tahlia, Ana, Aidana, and others approached each other at a safe distance. Not wanting to battle, Shane and Abeke bargained with each other to trade the Iron Boar (which the Conquerors previously obtained after Conor traded it for the lives of his family) and the Crystal Polar Bear for studying and safety purposes. Little did they know was that Tahlia and Ana were planning for a full-on battle threatening Uraza and Abeke for the talisman claiming that Shane was "too much of a diplomat" and that Zerif had sent them to make sure they got the job done. Not wanting to comply, Conor charged at Shane before he realized what was going on causing both sides to charge into action. Conor mainly guarded Abeke attacking every Conqueror in sight with Briggan using the Slate Elephant at one point (which they previously obtained) riding a giant Briggan before Conor was shot down by arrows. Abeke was very confused when she had to attack those who were attacking her helping Conor and receiving a stab wound from Tahlia and nearly getting crushed by a Conqueror who had a war hammer before Maya unleashed a massive flame upon the docks. Meilin mainly battled with her fist and weapons she obtained battling Ana and saving Abeke from Tahlia using the Crystal Polar Bear at her aid. Rollan was struggling and lost in thought distracted by his mother and possibly accidentally killing Tiddalik. Soon his mother, Aidana saved him from the action trying to get him to escape with her informing him about a traitor among them in the process. When Rollan refuses, she is possessed by Gerathon and attempts to kill her own son. This causes Essix and the others to save him and escape while the Conquerors deal with Maya's massive flames upon the docks. In the process of sailing away, the team is assaulted by a walrus causing Rollan to madly guard the Crystal Polar Bear until the Bile-fed walrus stole the talisman leaving Rollan with a missing talisman and a broken heart.

Aftermath[]

The team will begin to suspect each other of betrayal (mostly Abeke) making it hard for any of them to continue. Rollan will have a harder team focusing as well. After the fire caused Ana's death and Tahlia's scarring (thought to be dead) and much other heavy losses Shane decides for the Greencloaks to take the next hit (The Betrayal of Mulop's Grotto), Tahlia will hold a grudge on the Conquerors and the rest of the world and will grow stronger after the war creating the New Conquerors.

Trivia[]

  • While the Greencloaks only suffered the loss of the talisman, there were many reported Conqueror deaths upon the dock especially after Maya's fire.
  • If Shane knew Tahlia was alive, he would've come back for her.
  • Others may have been left alive if this is true.
  • If Conor hadn't been so fast to react the whole battle may not have happened or if Zerif hadn't gone behind Shane's back either it probably wouldn't have happened.
  • Conor has an arrow in his back during the battle and it may have remained there until he or someone on the team extracted it.
  • Abeke also has a deep knife wound from Tahlia which will be mentioned in Against the Tide.
  • This is one of the few battles focusing on a talisman that a Great Beast was absent for (not counting the Four Fallen) due to Suka being in Arctica.
