LIGHTS IN THE DARKNESS

Split between two worlds, Conor, Abeke, Meilin, and Rollan are four young heroes who are racing to stop an ancient evil. Even the spirit animal bond, the sacred link between humans and animals, is on the brink of destruction.

The friends face an enemy with the power to enslave others to its will—and to steal spirit animals away from their rightful partners. With their own allies falling to this darkness, the four must look to their bonds to light the way forward.

But one of those lights is about to go out. Briggan, Uraza, Jhi, and Essix. Before their journey is over, one of these legends will be lost.

This section is in need of new information!

It begins with Zerif hiding in the Kenjoba Mountains from Greencloaks and Niloan warriors before a Wyrm parasite eventually comes and takes control of him.

Conor, Meilin and Takoda head out across the Sulfur Sea after some preparation. They encounter a giant angler fish presumably affected by its proximity to the Evertree. They end up being intercepted by a pirate vessel and get in a fight with the crew, who's leader, Atalanta, has a giant bullfrog, Perth, as they wish to kill Conor as he has been infected by The Wyrm. They manage to negotiate with the crew to let them on their way, and the trio reach the base of the Evertree's roots.

Meanwhile, Abeke, Rollan and Tasha sail to Caylif in Nilo to meet up with former Greencloak Dante, who informs them of the boy who summoned Cabaro, Kirat. Kirat's father, Faisel, who is one of the wealthiest merchants in Nilo, plans to host a feast in honor of his son calling a Great Beast. Dante leads them to Otto, a businessman who works with Faisel on occasion. With help from Rollan and his familiarity with the workings of life on the street, however, Otto resists and they get into a fight, during which Dante is injured by a snake bite. Tasha, Rollan and Abeke decide to infiltrate Zourtzi, the island fortress in which Kirat and Cabaro reside, after gaining information and help from Madeo, a boy he met on the streets of Caylif.

Switching places with three children, Abeke, Rollan and Tasha go undercover and after Abeke stands up to and calms Cabaro, a feat that none of the previous servants could accomplish, Faisel assigns her to be the personal server of Kirat. Meanwhile, Rollan and Tasha volunteer to serve LaReimaja, the mother of Kirat and the wife of Faisel. After some time working with Kirat, Abeke decides to approach him about how she was a Greencloak and wished to take him to a safe place, however Kirat, who was raised under his father's belief that Greencloaks were bad, called for the guards, and Abeke's cover was blown.

Meanwhile, Essix arrives and using the abilities that his bond with Essix brings, he finds out that Zerif had made his way into Caylif and had already infected Otto. Rollan and Tasha try to reach LaReimaja, in hopes that she could help her, but they are approached by a series of guards, who capture them since they were affiliated with Abeke and were also Greencloaks. They are thrown in a dungeon, but not before Rollan sees LaReimaja and hints something by specifically using the word 'Lumeo' in a sentence, earning him a beating which knocks him out.
